As of March 2017, Oregon’s nonprofit sector consists of 31,224 nonprofit organizations. The majority of them – 19,786 – are public charities who conduct “public benefit” activities. The indirect economic impact of nonprofits is considerably more than basic metrics of employment and average wage payroll indicate.
