What Grantmakers Want Every Grantseeker to Know– Before You Submit the Proposal

The Ultimate Grants Toolkit Webinar

Friday, January 23, 2015
9:30-11:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time

Make no mistake about it: Grantseeking is a people-driven process. And key to your success is the grantmakers themselves—the people who make the decisions about awards from corporate, foundation, and government sources.

But who are these people? How do we connect with them? And what do they want from us, anyway?

Being a grantmaker isn’t as easy as you might think. In this session, we’ll take a realistic, from-the-trenches look at grantmaker research and relationships. You’ll get an inside look at the life of a typical grantmaker. You’ll learn what grantmakers love, what makes them grumpy—and how you can be sure you’re delivering what they really, really want! Among the topics we’ll cover:

  • Who are “grantmakers”? And what do they really, really want from us?
  • How to identify and connect with the grantmaker’s philanthropic mission
  • Seven steps to successful grants research
  • Grantmakers share: Eight qualities of exemplary proposals
  • Creating relationships that work—for you
  • BONUS: Is This Funding Opportunity Right for Us? – Use this exclusive checklist to help you and your team become crystal-clear about whether a specific grant opportunity will sabotage or support your organization’s mission, vision, and values.
