What does it take to be a successful grantseeking organization?

Long-term, healthy success in grantsmanship involves much more than being able to write a good proposal. Your organization must also have the right culture, the right values, the right tools, and the right resources in place to support your grantseeking process and manage your grant-funded programs and services well on behalf of your funders and the community you serve.

In this session, you’ll learn how to lay the groundwork for effective grantsmanship in both your organization’s culture and its practices. You will:

  • Be able to identify your organization’s needs and resources to support a systematic and strategic grantseeking process
  • Have a framework for developing and strengthening financial and program accountability
  • Know the resources and practices necessary to position your organization for grants readiness
  • BONUS: Grants Readiness Checklist – This detailed tool will help you identify what vital grants-readiness resources and practices are already working well in your organization, and zero in what else you can do to make sure your organization is truly “grants ready.”

    About your presenter:

    Maryn Boess is a 25-year nonprofit professional, social entrepreneur, and leader in capacity-building and grantsmanship training whose grant proposals won more than $42 million for her clients from 1989 through 1999. As founder of GrantsUSA LLC, from 2000 through 2011 she created a portfolio of high-quality, low-cost grants information tools, resources, and workshops taught nationwide. A resident of the Pacific Northwest since early 2011, Maryn travels nationally to share her workshops on practical strategies for nonprofit and public-sector success. Since 2006 she has also been in the grantmaker’s chair, managing up to $2 million annually in grantmaking for higher education through the Arizona Board of Regents.

    Maryn Boess is a 2014 CFRE Approved Provider for Continuing Education. Participation in all eight 90-minute sessions of The Ultimate Grants Toolkit is applicable for 12.0 points in Category 1.B—Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification. Individual sessions are applicable for 1.5 points each.
