Most nonprofit directors will tell you their target audience is "everyone." But rare is the nonprofit with a budget big enough to talk to everyone. In order to make the most of our limited resources, we must identify the people we need to convince, figure out what moves them to action, develop messages that resonate with them, and engage with them on the channels they're comfortable using.
In this workshop, you'll learn how to identify your target audiences, craft messages that motivate them, and get the word out to the people who need to hear it. You'll get hands-on experience using practical tools designed to make it easy to map out a winning plan for everything from fundraising to campaigning to volunteer recruitment.
About the Presenter
Former Bendite Renée Alexander is a San Francisco-based communications strategist, member of Lightbox Collaborative, and founder of grassrootsPR. She works with cutting-edge clients working on behalf of public transit, public health, and countless other forms of public good, helping them share their stories with the people who need to hear them. In addition to developing customized communication campaigns for clients, this former managing editor of The Source Weekly and freelance writer for Wired, Saveur, 7x7, and The Atlantic has generated hundreds of headlines from both inside and outside the newsroom. Clients include Clif Bar, Commute Options, San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, Rainforest Action Network, Foundation for the National Institutes of Health, 21st Amendment Brewery and the San Francisco Brewers Guild.
About the Network
Each session of the Nonprofit Network of Central Oregon is designed to strengthen your management skills while providing field-tested concepts and tools to take back to your organization for implementation. In addition to skills development, each session allows for networking and peer coaching in a collaborative learning environment.
