Nick Macdonald, Non-Profit Analytics and Learning Consultant
Presentation & Continental Breakfast at 8:00
Networking at 9:30
The troubled economy and a number of other factors have brought renewed attention to nonprofit mergers. Many small and medium non-profits feel under pressure to consider mergers or alliances in order to avoid being squeezed out of the market by larger organizations. Others see mergers or partnerships as a way to increase their impact or reduce their costs.
This presentation looks at the trends in this area, examines the evidence and research, and proposes a decision making framework to help nonprofit executives make good quality decisions about whether mergers or alliances are a good idea for their organizations.
- Types of strategic restructuring
- Bad reasons to consider mergers
- Good reasons to consider mergers
- The cold hard facts - what you’re likely to be able to achieve
- What you’ll need - lining up board, donor, and staff support
