Join Rick Levine, one of the Northwest's most expert grant writers, and Kit Gillem, Program Officer of the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, to learn what foundation and corporate grant makers expect of experienced grant writers. You'll see examples of successful proposals and receive direct feedback about your own proposals while working in small groups with expert program officers, including:
- Donna Arasin, The Oregon Community Foundation
- Kit Gillem, M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust
- Jan Kennedy, M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust
- Cindy Knowles, The Collins Foundation
- Paul Reich, Meyer Memorial Trust
- Martha Richards, James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation
- Megan Schumaker, The Oregon Community Foundation
You'll also get to meet some of the major foundation trustees who make the final decisions on your proposals, and learn how and why they make their funding decisions. The Trustee Panel will include:
- John Castles, M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust
- Orcilia Zúñiga Forbes, Meyer Memorial Trust
- Jim Meyer, Northwest Health Foundation
This workshop will be an extraordinary opportunity to hear from the leaders of Oregon’s foundation world!
Preparation
Each participant should bring eight copies of a two-page proposal summary, Letter of Intent, or similar foundation request. This narrative description should completely describe your program. If the writing sample is for a funder with specific requirements, please reformat the information so that all aspects of the project are presented. Foundation representatives ask that participants view this as a learning opportunity and suggest that people not bring material that has already been highly successful.
Additional Information
This workshop is designed specifically for experienced grant writers who have written at least three grant proposals.
