About this event
United by Dance, Inspired by Kids: Celebrating our Connection to African Cultures is the theme. Kúkátónón Children’s African Dance Troupe is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides vital arts programming to under-served children, primarily African American students from low-income families in Northeast Portland. Founded in 1983, the organization’s mission is to broaden awareness of African and African
American cultural traditions throughout Oregon, and to inspire confidence, commitment, and vitality among the children in the dance troupe.
Kúkátónón means “We Are One” in the Kpelle language of Liberia.
