About this event

Strategic Restructuring: Exploring Nonprofit Consolidations

In today’s challenging funding and service landscape, many nonprofits are exploring mergers, acquisitions, and other forms of strategic partnerships to strengthen their long-term sustainability. Thoughtfully coming together can reduce duplicative efforts, consolidate scarce resources, and ultimately deepen impact in the communities we serve. In this session, we explore key considerations for a potential merger or acquisition. We cover strategic drivers for consolidation and how to move beyond talk toward the necessary financial, legal, governance, and organizational culture alignment. This session is intended for nonprofits curious about or actively in conversation with potential partners.

In addition to the workshop, we will be joined by a panel of nonprofit leaders who have navigated a consolidation, including:

This session builds on a 90-minute webinar originally offered as part of NAO’s five-part series, Facing the New Reality: Strategic Paths for Nonprofits. We have expanded this topic into a longer, facilitated session that allows for deeper exploration, discussion, and practical application.
