This training session equips nonprofit leaders with the essential knowledge and tools to build long-term organizational and financial sustainability. Drawing from the Standards for Excellence: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector, participants will explore a holistic approach to sustainability that integrates leadership, infrastructure, financial systems, and programmatic impact.

  • Understanding Sustainability: Learn how sustainability goes beyond fundraising to include strategic growth, adaptability, and relevance in changing times. 
  • Nonprofit Life Cycles: Explore the five stages of nonprofit development—from start-up to renewal—and how sustainability challenges evolve across each phase. 
  • Strategic Sustainability Planning: Discover how to create and implement a sustainability plan that aligns leadership, finances, staffing, and infrastructure with mission-driven goals. 
  • Financial Resilience and Crisis Management: Gain insights into liquidity, operating reserves, and financial modeling to prepare for and weather organizational disruptions. 
  • Matrix Mapping for Decision-Making: Use the double bottom line approach to assess mission impact and financial viability across programs.
