Finance Fundamentals for Rural Nonprofits

Online

About this event

As a nonprofit leader, you likely wear many hats. You may be juggling programs, fundraising, and community needs—leaving little time to dive deep into the complexities of your organization’s finances. But getting your financials in order doesn’t have to be overwhelming! This program is designed specifically for nonprofit professionals like you—those who need practical, no-nonsense guidance to strengthen their financial systems and free up time for the mission that matters most. Let us help you take control of your finances, so you can focus on what you do best: serving your community.

Through a series of instructional webinars plus one-on-one coaching with our expert partners at Your Part-time Controller, LLC, even the humblest of nonprofits can deepen their knowledge of best practices and introduce improved finance policies and procedures into their organization.

Program Outline

First, you’ll join nonprofit finance experts for engaging 60-minute webinars designed specifically for small nonprofits, particularly those in rural areas. In this hands-on training, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of nonprofit accounting, tailored to meet the unique challenges organizations like yours often face.

Participants will receive a strong overview of nonprofit accounting and its principles, along with nonprofit accounting management. This will encompass several topics including:

  • Understanding nonprofit finance basics
  • Building an effective Chart of Accounts/General Ledger geared towards reporting requirements
  • Developing and implementing policies, procedures (including employee reimbursements), and robust internal controls
  • Preparing for an annual audit (best practices and common mistakes to avoid)

Program participants will have access to webinar recordings and materials to revisit the content whenever needed.

Second, attendees will receive individualized support through one-on-one coaching, allowing you to customize the learning to your organization’s needs. Each participating organization will have access to up to 2 hours of pro bono coaching, which will be scheduled directly with YPTC consultants at a time that works for both parties.

This program is a valuable first step in building a solid financial foundation – Don’t miss this opportunity to improve your nonprofit’s financial management and systems!

Cost

Free for NAO Members headquartered in or predominantly serving rural areas.
