Rosalie created Nonprofit Law Northwest, LLC to provide holistic, cost-effective legal services specifically for nonprofits. She loves working with the people who pour their passion into these organizations and helping them make a difference in the world. Her practice area focuses on all major issues that impact nonprofits, including compliance with IRS regulations and Oregon nonprofit law. She works with nonprofits on a wide variety of matters, including obtaining (and retaining) tax-exempt status, entering into joint ventures, asserting voting member rights, achieving an effective corporate governance structure, complying with unrelated business income tax rules, fiscal sponsorship agreements, avoiding hostile takeovers, and a variety of other matters. She has assisted a wide variety of organizations, including churches, charter and private schools, supporting organizations, business leagues, social clubs, lobbying and political organizations, sports leagues, and many others. Her background in business and employment law allows her to provide full-scale representation to her nonprofit clients, providing contract drafting and other transactional services. She is a skilled negotiator and works with organizations to achieve healthy Board dynamics and create positive relationships with their organizational partners. Rosalie graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in journalism and summa cum laude from Lewis & Clark Law School. She is a member of the Oregon State Bar Association, a member of the Executive Committee of Oregon’s Nonprofit Organizations Law Section, an Editor of Nonprofit Law in Oregon (the quintessential book for attorneys on nonprofit legal issues), and the former president of the Union County Bar Association. Rosalie loves spending time with her husband and their five children, who are all busy, noisy, and fun.
