Beyond the Facade: Addressing Pseudo-Allyship and the Legacy of White Feminism in Nonprofit Leadership

Location provided upon registration NE Portland
  • Member Price: $45.00
  • Non-member Price: $75.00

About this event

This panel discussion will dive into the complex issues of pseudo-allyship and the historical impact of white feminism in nonprofit leadership, exploring how these dynamics affect trust and authentic allyship within organizations.

Participants will explore the pervasiveness of performative gestures, where individuals or groups present themselves as allies without taking meaningful actions to support marginalized communities. We will examine the historical influence of white feminism in nonprofit leadership roles, addressing how this legacy has shaped organizational practices and perceptions of trust. Specifically, this conversation will examine the intersection of power dynamics, hidden biases and assumptions, and entitlement.

By the end of this session, participants will have a deeper understanding of these complex issues and be equipped to better understand how to promote authentic allyship and trust within their organizations, creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all.

Cost

$45 for NAO Members
$75 for Nonmembers
This event is Network Pass eligible.
