It's Not Personal, It's Systemic! Addressing Resistance While Doing DEIJB Work

Louiza Event Space 2808 NE MLK Jr. Blvd.
Suite B
Portland
  • Member Price: $45.00
  • Non-member Price: $75.00

About this event

Rather than fighting resistance, organizations can learn to embrace pushback as an expected part of building a more racially equitable, inclusive, environmentally conscious, and social justice-oriented organizational culture.

Systems are designed to build continuity and consistency. Changes to the system will inevitably result in resistance/pushback, whether it is structural or human behavior. When we expect resistance, we can plan for it, depersonalize it, acknowledge it and work with it.

This session will deliver a framework and offer participants time to workshop a pocket of resistance they are currently working through by asking:

  • How do some human behaviors represent symptoms of the system, and what are these representations trying to tell you?  What is the resistance pointing to below the surface line?
  • Where does that specific energy of resistance belong?
  • What is its origin and its goal?

Discover the answers to these questions to depersonalize resistance and make it part of the work.

Cost

$45 for NAO Members
$75 for Nonmembers
