Dedee Wilner-Nugent, Principal, Wilner-Nugent Consulting

In this 90-minute in-person training, Claire Blaylock and Dedee Wilner-Nugent will guide board and staff leaders through establishing authentic community partnerships and how to leverage them to increase your organization’s community impact.

Participants will leave this session with an understanding of the internal preparations for partnership readiness, the entire partnership development process, and partner-led capacity-building efforts. Participants will also leave with clarity about their organizations’ ability to pursue two-way and mutually beneficial partnerships.

Dedee and Claire will share some successful partnership examples from Portland-based nonprofits in fundraising/marketing, programming, and representation in governance. During the last 30 minutes of the session, attendees will participate in a birds of a feather activity and have small group discussions on building productive, mission-aligned community partnerships. Participants will work together and are encouraged to submit discussion topics ahead of the session.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn how to define your goals and process for partnership development
  • Build skills for effectively engaging with potential community partners
  • Understand how to leverage partnerships to increase fundraising capacity and program impact
