Demystifying Fiscal Sponsorship: What Sponsoring Organizations Should Consider
Presenter
Rosalie Westenskow, Attorney, Nonprofit Law Northwest, LLC
Has your organization been approached to act as a fiscal sponsor? If so, this session will walk you through some important issues to consider before signing a fiscal sponsorship agreement (“FSA”). You will learn what questions to ask a potential sponsoree, different ways to structure an FSA, what fees you can charge as a sponsor, the types of services usually included in an FSA, and how to protect your own organization and tax-exempt status if you decide to become a sponsor.
Note: This session is intended for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organizations who are considering acting as a fiscal sponsor to non-exempt organizations or groups. If you are an organization or group wanting to learn more about acquiring a fiscal sponsor, consider attending our other session titled: Seeking Fiscal Sponsorship: When, Why, and How Does it Help?
Automatic closed captioning via Zoom is turned on by default for all NAO virtual sessions. For other accommodation requests, please contact us at [email protected]. Advanced notice of at least 10 days is appreciated.
