Event Description

Title
Sticking to your Strategic Plan

Presenters
Rebekah Lambert, Executive Director, Range2Basin Strategic
Gil Levy, Executive Director, KIDS Center

Strategic planning is an investment. A lot of time, effort, creativity, hope, and sometimes frustration can go into the process of developing a strategic plan. And then what happens? This practical, results-oriented session focuses on how to ensure that your strategic plan comes to life and doesn't sit on that proverbial shelf getting dusty until the next obligatory strategic planning process.

Note: This session will be most relevant to organizations with existing strategic plans and also to those that may be considering a strategic planning process. Other organizations may still find the tools and practices for prioritization and evaluation useful.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand practical approaches to strategic planning that help to ensure that board and staff hold themselves accountable to the organization's strategic plan once approved, and how to incorporate these same practices into plan implementation
  • Review tools for prioritization and evaluation
  • Through a Central Oregon case study, explore how a plan is being implemented, evaluated, and adapted real-time in the first year after plan approval
  • Outline a process for review, evaluation, and updating of your strategic plan in the context of your own organization

For accommodation requests, please contact us at [email protected]. Advanced notice of at least 10 days is appreciated.

About the Presenters

Rebekah Lambert, Executive Director, Range2Basin Strategic

Rebekah started Range2Basin Strategic (R2B) in Fall 2020, with a commitment to serving small and mid-sized nonprofit organizations in the American West. Energized by the crisp open air and great vistas of the Intermountain West’s high mountain ranges and grounded in the reality and resiliency of its basins, Rebekah partners with her clients to facilitate planning and governance projects that acknowledge and appreciate the unique history, leadership, community, and future of each organization. Prior to founding R2B, Rebekah worked for 11 years with Arts Consulting Group, Inc., a North American management consulting firm focused on the arts and culture industry, serving for a time as the firm’s Senior Vice President leading its Planning & Organizational Development practice. Earlier in her career, she held executive leadership positions with arts, culture, and human services nonprofits including ShelterCare, the Eugene Symphony, the Honolulu Symphony, and the Symphony of Southeast Texas. A resident of Prineville, in March 2022, she joined the Crook County Foundation as Executive Director.

Gil Levy, Executive Director, KIDS Center

Gil joined KIDS Center in February 2020 after over twenty years in leadership roles with organizations serving at-risk youth and families. He began his career providing direct services to at-risk youth in wilderness therapy, crisis counseling and emergency shelter settings, and later went on to lead prevention, intervention, and education programs for homeless, runaway, and foster youth who had experienced child abuse. Gil holds a Masters of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2020, Gil and his family relocated to Bend, Oregon from their longtime home in Austin, fulfilling a longstanding wish to live in the beautiful and dynamic environment of Central Oregon.
