Join us for a conversation that will explore various facets of board service. We'll cover a range of topics including managing difficult boards, best practices in recruitment and retention, and tips for navigating the board/staff relationship. Come with your questions and prepare to engage in conversation with our speakers and your fellow attendees.

About the Panelists

Sarah Spangler, Nonprofit Education Specialist, NAO

Sarah Spangler is a Nonprofit Education Specialist at NAO. Sarah has worked in the nonprofit sector in different capacities for almost 10 years; as a nonprofit volunteer, committee member, program coordinator, development director, executive director, and board member. Sarah is an active community member and feels at her best when she is surrounded by others who are passionate about building stronger, more equitable, and more compassionate communities. 

Jenn Clemo, Director of Nonprofit Leadership & Learning, NAO

Jenn is a nonprofit professional with over 16 years of experience in the sector. Jenn possesses a diverse set of skills in nonprofit management, with expertise in fund development, marketing, program design, and evaluation. Prior to NAO, Jenn served as the Executive Director of the Center for Nonprofit Stewardship, an organization that provided training and resources to nonprofits across the region before it joined forces with NAO in 2020. Jenn has also worked as an independent consultant providing nonprofit capacity-building and grant writing services to a variety of clients in the Willamette Valley and across the country. Jenn is a graduate of the University of Oregon and holds a B.A. in English Literature.  

Grady Goodall, J.D., Director of Development, OSU College of Liberal Arts; Board President, NAO

Grady Goodall serves as Director of Development for OSU, College of Liberal Arts where he leads the college's fundraising, engagement, and alumni programs. In addition to his work in fundraising, Grady is an attorney who has worked exclusively in the Oregon education and nonprofit sectors. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Oregon Nonprofit Organizations Law Section and a former member of the Board of Directors for the Center for Nonprofit Stewardship, the Lane Arts Council Board of Directors, and the Eastern Oregon Regional Arts Council. He is a frequent presenter on philanthropy and nonprofit management topics.
