Event Description
Title
Sustaining Wellness While Doing DEI
Presenter
Erica Briggs, Nonprofit Education Specialist, NAO
Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work takes a mental and emotional toll on those charged with creating a psychologically safe and equitable organizational culture. Much of the ongoing work crosses departments, challenging both people and organizational policies and practices. As your organization advances its DEI efforts, it’s more important than ever to provide support to staff tasked with doing the labor. This session will answer the following questions:
- How do we share the workload to maximize impact?
- In what ways can organizations protect the health and wellness of people doing the heavy lifting?
- How can those who are doing the labor fill their own cups to continue the work?
Participants will leave this session with insights and actionable takeaways to continue propelling DEI forward. This work is a constant process of strategic planning, implementation, assessment, and improvement, but sharing the opportunities and challenges will allow your organization to lighten the load while making the changes you want to see.
Automatic closed captioning via Zoom is turned on by default for all NAO virtual sessions. For other accommodation requests, please contact us at [email protected]. Advanced notice of at least 10 days is appreciated.
