Newer Audit Standards: Higher Costs, More Findings

Ecotrust Conference Center, 2nd Floor 721 NW 9th Avenue
Portland

About this event

Kris Oliveira, Principal
Kern & Thompson

Continental Breakfast & Presentation at 7:30
Networking at 9:00

Why do audit costs seem to move in only one direction? Why have we been seeing more formal findings in recent years? What can an auditee do to help control these costs and reduce the number of findings, and what should they be looking for their auditor to do to help? This presentation will explore the reasons behind the audit fee increases over the last several years, and will highlight opportunities for the auditor and auditee to work together to help control fee increases. Elements of findings will be discussed, and ideas presented to help reduce future findings. Topics to be included are:

  • Understand key audit cost drivers
  • Develop a better understanding of findings
  • Learn how recent audit and accounting standards impact the auditor and auditee
  • Gather information on practical things all parties can do to control audit costs
  • Brainstorm with others for tricks and tips that have enabled their audit fees to remain reasonable throughout this period
