Nonprofit Board Treasurer Training – Understanding Your Responsibilities and Creating Strong Financial Stewardship Processes

Are you the Treasurer, or interested in becoming the Treasurer, of a nonprofit organization’s board? Join us for this interactive session that will provide a framework of knowledge for how you can best serve your organization’s needs as a financial steward. It may be helpful for you to review your organization’s bylaws ahead of the session.
Participants can expect to:
- Understand the roles and duties, legal and otherwise, of the Treasurer position
- Learn how to engage board, staff and committees in creating financial oversight and controls
- Review compliance procedures, including payroll tax, donor restrictions and federal and state tax reporting requirements

Erin Zollenkopf, CEO, Susan Matlack Jones & Associates Erin is the CEO of Susan Matlack Jones & Associates (SMJ), a bookkeeping firm specializing in not-for-profit accounting that works with over 100 Oregon and Washington nonprofits. Erin serves as the Board Chair for ninety-nine girlfriends, a collective women’s giving circle and is on the board of the Oregon Historical Society.. She is also a member of the public advisory board for Portland Parks & Recreation. Erin speaks and leads workshops in her field, including a workshop series through Regional Arts & Culture Council called DIY Accounting for Small Arts Nonprofits. Besides accounting, Erin enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children, playing piano and mandolin, and adventuring outdoors. |

David Atkin, Director and Attorney, Center for Nonprofit Law David Atkin is the founder and director of the Center for Nonprofit Law, a law office that works exclusively for nonprofit organizations. David has been deeply involved in serving the nonprofit sector for over 40 years. His law office has been providing specialized legal services exclusively for nonprofit organizations for nearly 30 years, and it currently serves as the legal counsel for more than a thousand nonprofit organizations. David is a recognized expert on nonprofit law and was recently honored for his expertise by being selected to be the first and Founding Chair for the Oregon State Bar’s new legal section on “Nonprofit Organizations Law.” David regularly presents seminars and workshops on nonprofit law topics to a wide variety of nonprofit organizations and audiences all around the country, including seminars for the attorneys and CPAs who advise them. |
