For many of us in the nonprofit sector, having the human resources to have a Human Resource Manager would be a luxury. While we can provide effective supervision, mission-driven workplaces, and the good feeling that comes from serving and enhancing the community, we may still be struggling to keep up with new and ever-changing trends and potential trouble spots in the realm of human resource management.

During this session, we will discuss your concerns and share creative, concrete ways you can fulfill vital HR functions without this key staff person. Discussion topics include:

  • Without an HR manager, who should do it?
  • Strategies to stay current with HR and legal policies and regulations
  • HR issues that all organizations should address

    As an employment law attorney and HR professional, Jenna Reed integrates compliance and practical management solutions to help organizations manage risk, build confidence, and gain new perspective on familiar (and some not so familiar) employment related challenges and opportunities. By seeking to understand your specific circumstances, obstacles, and goals, her approach will help you sort through the clutter and determine your best path. As Cascade’s General Counsel and Director of Compliance Services, Jenna primarily focuses on employment law compliance, training, employee engagement, and leading a team of HR professionals in providing practical and solution-oriented support. A nationally recognized speaker on employment topics, Jenna is also a member of the Oregon State Bar and serves as a Board member for the NW EEO/Affirmative Action Association.

    Each session of the Rogue Valley Nonprofit Training Series is designed to strengthen your development and leadership skills while providing field-tested concepts and tools to take back to your organization for implementation. In addition to skills development and meeting with the experts, each session allows for networking and peer coaching in a collaborative learning environment.
