Do you have a strong understanding of your organization’s cash flow and sustainability? Are you a Board member who struggles to interpret whether resources are allocated efficiently and whether the organization is stable? Are you a nonprofit leader wanting to better communicate success or risks to your staff and Board through key financial metrics? Join us for an interactive session on financial governance in support of the mission. We will:

  • Briefly review basics of reading a financial statement and identify the most revealing areas of financial reports
  • Identify key indicators of your organization’s financial health
  • Align financial oversight with your organization’s business model and risks
  • Target questions, data, and analysis drawing on work already being done within your organization

About the Presenter

Vanessa Wilkins enjoys helping organizations build capacity to grow promising programs and organizations to scale. Vanessa has held senior management positions in both the private and nonprofit sectors, and has served in leadership roles on nonprofit Boards of Directors. Recent projects have included organizational assessment and capacity building, strategic planning and business planning for replication and scaling, marketing strategy, cost structure analysis, and financial impact analysis.

Vanessa started her career in Latin America and still speaks passable Spanish. She holds a BS in Finance (summa cum laude) from Boston University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Each session of the Rogue Valley Nonprofit Training Series is designed to strengthen your development and leadership skills while providing field-tested concepts and tools to take back to your organization for implementation. In addition to skills development and meeting with the experts, each session allows for networking and peer coaching in a collaborative learning environment.
