What does it take to go from “good to great” as a Board member? What’s the highest value you can add to your Board’s deliberations? How can you make a lasting difference for the organization you love without burning yourself out or micromanaging the CEO and staff? What challenges do you face? How can you help other Board members become more engaged and effective?
Join us as we share some of the joys and pitfalls of serving on the Board of a nonprofit organization. Explore with your peers some provocative stories of “Board members behaving badly.” Leave with some fresh ideas, practical strategies, and clever tools to improve your skills and help your Board govern more effectively. Experience renewed energy and joy in service to the organizations you love.
Main topics will include:
- Overview of Board member duties, roles, and responsibilities
- Handling conflicts of interest and avoiding “bad behavior”
- Emerging trends in effective Board practice
- Practical strategies you can use to improve your own and your Board’s engagement and performance
