About this event

Event Description

Title
What Boards of All-Volunteer Nonprofits Need to Do in Response to COVID-19

Presenters
Jess Hampton, Program Director, Center for Nonprofit Stewardship
Jim White, Executive Director, Nonprofit Association of Oregon

Note: This session is specifically designed for boards of all-volunteer nonprofit organizations working in rural communities across Oregon

Board service in all-volunteer nonprofit organizations requires the ability to govern and manage the day-to-day programs and operations of an organization. New and even seasoned Board members will be challenged during this COVID-19 crisis in discharging obligations and navigating the crucial, time-bound decisions they are facing. In light of the evolving COVID-19 crisis, NAO has partnered with the Center for Nonprofit Stewardship to help your small, all-volunteer nonprofit through this difficult time. Your communities will need sound and effective board leadership especially now and in the coming weeks and months and we are here to help!

In this session, Jess Hampton and Jim White will explore the fundamental duties and roles and responsibilities of board members of all-volunteer nonprofits regarding governance and programming. The session has been developed in the context of the COVID-19 crisis and will focus on how applying the fundamentals now will mitigate immediate- and long-term impacts on community-based organizations. As your board considers critical organizational decisions in response to the challenges COVID-19 has created for our communities, this session will provide a core set of tools and principles to apply and modify for your nonprofit.

*Space is limited to 500 participants. Please note that a recording of this webinar will be made available on NAO's COVID-19 Resources page for later viewing.
