Summer in the Forest Screening

Cedar Mill Library 12505 NW Cornell Rd, Suite 13
Portland

About this event

Join us for a screening of “Summer in the Forest,” a film about a L’Arche community in France, followed by a reception and panel discussion. We will celebrate the life and legacy of Jean Vanier, who passed away peacefully May 7, 2019.

About Summer in the Forest: Like countless others Philippe, Michel, Andre and Patrick were labeled 'idiots', locked away and forgotten in violent asylums, until the 1960s, when the young philosopher Jean Vanier took a stand and secured their release – the first time in history that anyone had beaten the system. Together they created L'Arche, a commune at the edge of a beautiful forest near Paris. A quiet revolution was born.
