The webinar will cover: NAO’s Public Policy Principles; bills before the Oregon legislature and what they mean for nonprofits; focus on HB3028 which seeks to renew and raise the Oregon Earned Income Tax Credit; and what action we can take to advance Oregon’s nonprofit sector’s public policy agenda.

About the Presenters

Presenter Jim currently serves as the Executive Director of the Nonprofit Association of Oregon. He began this assignment in October of 2012. Jim is deeply committed to social change and has worked in the nonprofit sector both domestically and internationally for more than 20 years. He has a passion for affecting systemic change in the way that the public, private and nonprofit sectors work together to support and strengthen civil society. He is specifically skilled on working to build alliances and partnerships with mission and results driven outcomes in mind. Before joining NAO, Jim worked for Mercy Corps for 15 years, most recently as the Vice President of Operations. He has also worked for the International Organization for Migration and the American Red Cross. Jim earned a BS in Engineering Technology from Temple University and a MA in Central Eurasian Area Studies from Indiana University. |

Presenter Jen is currently a NAO Board Member and Chair of NAO's Public Policy Committee. She is the owner of Rusk Coaching & Consulting. With 35 years of experience in the nonprofit sector as a manager, director, consultant, and Board member, Jen offers a unique vantage on nonprofits—as independent businesses, hubs of community services and engagement, and as a growing sector of the U.S. economy. For the past 20 years, she has helped Oregon nonprofits achieve great success in the areas of planning, organization development, and fundraising. She holds a BA from the University of California at Santa Cruz and a Masters in Process Facilitation and Conflict Studies from the Processwork Institute of Portland. Jen has extensive training and experience in nonprofit consulting and fundraising and is a Certified Professional and Personal Coach through the Coaches Training Institute. |

Presenter Talia currently serves as a policy consultant to the Oregon Business Council on issues related to financial well-being. When she is not doing that, she is the Manager of Program Innovations and Business Development at Credit Builders Alliance, a national nonprofit that helps organizations move people from poverty to prosperity through credit building. Talia is passionate about public policy that fosters more inclusive and equitable communities. She has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Policy and Governance.
