About this event
All proceeds from this year’s Summer’s End Festival at Our Lady of the
Lake Parish will be dedicated to Friends of the Children, Portland. Under
their umbrella, each child in the program is vested from Kindergarten through
high school graduation. Festival goers have the opportunity to help these
vulnerable kids-and to enjoy a day of fun in the sun!
Mark your calendar for Sunday, September 9th. The festival celebration and
outreach event starts at 11:30 AM on the church parking lot. The ROLL bike
ride begins at 12:45 PM. The festival concludes at 4:30 PM. Our Lady of the
Lake Catholic Church is located at the corner of 8th and A. Avenues in Lake
Oswego.
Always a highlight of the day, the ROLL bike ride features a six mile route
as well as a one mile ride. This year, the baking contest is all about
apples. All baked goods are welcome, as long as they have apples! There
will be a tasting after the judging.
The Knights of Columbus will once again offer a gourmet assortment of lunch
items. Choose among pulled pork sandwiches, hamburgers with all the
trimmings, salads, corn on the cob, and more. There will also be popcorn and
shaved ice.
A fantastic assortment of activities awaits one and all. There will be face
painting, a photo booth, a cupcake walk, inflatables, Frisbee golf, and more.
The fire truck, police car, motorcycle and community service van will again
be on hand.
Friends of the Children’s motto is “Generational Change, One Child at a
Time”. The innovative program offers a stable, long-term relationship with
an adult mentor. Professional mentors teach their child positive values.
They have attainable expectations for each child to become a healthy and
productive member of the community.
