Join Rick Levine, one of the Northwest’s most expert grant writers, and Candy Solovjovs, Director of Programs with Meyer Memorial Trust, to learn what makes foundation and corporate grantmakers get interested in—and react positively to—grant applications. This workshop, geared to experienced grant writers, will give you tools and new ideas to significantly increase your organization’s grants success. We will discuss expectations of good grant writers and offer insight into what program officers look for in the different proposal sections.

This workshop also provides the chance to learn firsthand how foundation and corporation staff examine proposals. In a highly unusual opportunity, you will receive direct feedback about your proposals and project ideas, while working in small groups with some of the top foundation and corporate program officers in the region. This session of “Advanced Grants Strategies” features the following experts:

This workshop goes way beyond a simple “meet the funders” experience. Participants receive in-depth information and feedback on their own work and come to understand much more fully how both foundation staff and trustees look at their proposals.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is designed specifically for experienced grant writers who have written at least three grant proposals and who want to become more competitive with their applications to Oregon and Southwest Washington private and corporate foundations.

Training Format

This full-day, in-person workshop will be presented in Portland, Oregon to a limited audience of 49 participants.

Preparation

Each participant should bring eight copies of a two page Letter of Inquiry (LOI). Refer to the LOI Guidelines for specific formatting instructions. Foundation representatives ask that participants view this as a learning opportunity and suggest that people not bring material that has already been highly successful.
