Reducing the Power Differential between Funders and Fundees will be presented
by representatives of Portland funding organizations on Friday, July 13 at
the monthly luncheon presented by the Association of Fundraising
Professionals (AFP) Oregon & Southwest Washington Chapter. Registration and
networking opens at 11 a.m. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed
by the program from noon to 1 p.m. The event will be held at the Multnomah
Athletic Club, 1849 SW Salmon Street, Portland, OR 97205.
Panelists will be Justin Pabalate, Donor Relations Officer, The Oregon
Community Foundation (OCF); Candy Solovjos, Director of Programs, Meyer
Memorial Trust; Robyn Shuey, Public Affairs Program Manager, The Standard and
Ami Patel, Program Manager, The Women's Foundation. They will discuss the
ongoing work funding organizations are undertaking to dismantle some of the
power differential that exists between them and the organizations and
communities they wish to serve. The panel will be moderated by Kris Anderson,
Principal of Kris Anderson Consulting.
The speakers will share changes their organizations have made in recent years
to address equity. This will be followed by a moderated discussion addressing
related questions that might include conditions and transparency of decision
making, changes in the application process, ways to ensure they are reaching
underserved populations, funder partnerships and feedback loops with
populations to be served including nonprofits.
The cost for the event is $35 for AFP and NWPGRT members, $25 for AFP Young
Professional members and $50 for nonmembers and guests. Tables of 6 are
