About this event

DESCRIPTION

Each year, Columbia Bank presents a one-day Nonprofit Symposium designed to bring training and development opportunities to your board and staff leadership. We strive to make the Nonprofit Symposium a local, affordable resource for you and your team. In planning, we partner with nonprofit leaders to identify top issues facing nonprofits today and bring together a series of speakers to address those needs.

This year's event is designed with your whole team in mind.

Morning Workshop: Getting to What Matters

We are thrilled to have Steve Patty, Ph.D., principal consultant with Dialogues in Action, to lead us through our morning workshop. Too often evaluation fails to give us a crisp and clear picture of impact. It's frequently burdensome, perfunctory, or unwieldy – a chore to perform, not an exciting and incisive discovery of the keys to causing human impact. This workshop is designed for all nonprofit leaders to start asking questions about how we can:

  • Design simple, elegant, and meaningful evaluation.
  • Develop leadership capacity among staff through evaluation.
  • Focus on impact and not just outputs.
  • Communicate results convincingly and with credibility.
  • Mobilize stakeholders to engage and staff to make data-driven program decisions.

The Breakouts

After lunch we will have breakout sessions to dive deeper.

  1. Secrets of Reporting Impact: Learn best practices to identify, capture, and report your nonprofit’s impact in your financial statements. Speaker: Kari Young, Jones & Roth
  2. Better Together: A look at how board leadership and executive directors can maximize their impact through strong working relationships. Speaker: Dyana Mason, Ph.D., University of Oregon
  3. Finding Your Voice with Donors: How to engage your donors and prospects with compelling messaging and communciations. Speaker: Jen Bell, Bell + Funk and Elena Fracchia, Columbia Bank

The Wrap Up

We will close with a panel discussion, moderated by Author J.C. Geiger. Panelists will evaluate how our partners and leaders can support ongoing efforts to increase impact in our communities. We will discuss community investments, engaging with corporate partners, and how each measures impact and success.

Hosted by Elena Fracchia, Kristin Short, and Vicki Gray of Columbia Bank.
