Event Description
Title
How to Create a Fundraising Strategy That You Will Actually Use
Presenter
Doreen O'Skea, Director of Legacy and Leadership Giving, Oregon Shakespeare Festival
There are as many approaches to fundraising as there are nonprofits. So, it makes sense to build a fundraising strategy that builds on your existing strengths and capacity so you can get the results you need.
During this training, you will learn how to build a fundraising program that will allow you to use your existing staff, board, and volunteers to raise more money without necessarily overhauling your entire operation to accommodate new fundraising strategies.
After this training attendees will:
- Understand the difference between a fundraising program and a fundraising plan (and why you need both)
- How to inspire your board and volunteers to lead the way
- How to keep staff motivated and focused
- Be able to share the WHY for your fundraising plan with everyone
About the Presenter

Presenter
Doreen O'Skea, Director of Legacy and Leadership Giving, Oregon Shakespeare Festival
Doreen O’Skea has been a part of several different organizations during her career, from private universities to public, arts organizations and tech corporations she has worked on everything from the annual fund to major comprehensive capital campaigns. She has operated in two person teams and been a part of a 44 person division. Whether it is for a building or an idea, she has asked for support to make it happen. Development work is a calling, not a nine to five job. Those of us who are fortunate enough to work in this field know that we could always use more resources, need more infrastructure and are always in the cycle of cultivation, asking and stewardship. It is thrilling work and requires constant investment in professional development. The field is always evolving, so should we.
