Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church to Host St. Luke’s ‘Vianney’
You are invited to attend St. Luke’s Productions of ‘Vianney: Renewing the Heart of the Church’. Mark your calendar for Tuesday, November 29, 2016. This live production begins at 7:00 PM in the church, which is located at 790 A. Avenue, Lake Oswego, OR, 97034
Leonardo Defillppis’ one-man show opens amidst the chaos of the early 19th century and the French Revolution. The simple peasant priest, Vianney, enters the town of Ars, a place where faith and the Church are of no importance in daily life. Through the power of Vianney’s passionate love and sacrifice, the townspeople begin to change, to listen, and to pray.
Defillppis, a Shakespearean actor who turned his talents to serve God and the Church, portrays the story of a priest with a passion for saving sinners. Says Defillppis,” I know that young men looking for a radical way of serving God will be drawn to the priesthood through his example.” Vianney is the Patron Saint of Priests.
This multi-media production incorporates an original musical score, theatrical lighting and set, and a full cast of characters brought to life on a video screen. Defillppis dramatically portrays Vianney, who battles the devil. Vianney continues to struggle against the Devil against and perseveres in spite of adversity. Vianney’s birth name is Jean-Baptisite-Marie-Vianney. He is often referred to as “Cure d” Ars”.
There is no admission fee. A free will offering is requested. The show is suitable for those nine years old and older. For further information, please visit www.ollparish.com or call 503-636-7687.
