Measure 97 proposes to increase the sales tax for C corporations doing more than $25 million of sales in Oregon. Proponents and opponents express strong opinions on how the tax will be used and what the effects will be for nonprofits and the constituencies they serve.
NAO will host a forum to allow both sides of the issue to present directly to nonprofits and discuss the issues and effects surrounding the measure. Speakers from both the Vote Yes on 97 and Defeat 97 campaigns will be presenting and answering your questions. Be sure to come, hear what they have to say, and get your questions answered!
If you can’t make it in person, be sure to tune into our recorded broadcast of the session which we will make available shortly after the session concludes.
This session is brought to you at no cost as part of NAO’s public policy work.
We support NonprofitVote.org & their work to have nonprofits engage in advocacy
NAO believes Oregon nonprofits can make a difference in election outcomes. Through our daily contact with clients, constituents, staff, volunteers, board members and communities, nonprofits can reach and connect with large numbers of potential voters. Nonprofits have access to communities that are typically underrepresented in the political process and are a trusted messenger. At the heart of that trust is our nonpartisan approach. However, nonpartisanship does not mean nonparticipation. That’s why we are partnering with Nonprofit Vote and utilizing their outreach tools to help us spread the word to as many nonprofits in Oregon as possible. Engage your staff, volunteers, and communities you serve in helping register to vote as many people as possible. This will ensure our democracy works and represents as many voices as possible.
