Lori Slaughter, Regional Philanthropy Advisor, Excellence in Giving, LLC, Principal, Nirvana Ranch Philanthropy
During this NLN session, participants will explore methods for building strategic, long-term relationships that maximize a donor’s giving potential. Topics include “Changing the Conversation”, leveraging research, passion questioning, core values assessment and meaningful engagement. Participants will learn how to customize approach strategies, conduct discovery visits that uncover values and philanthropic interests, and develop donor-centric cultivation plans that lead to meaningful relationships, shared values and ultimately, more significant investments in your organization.

About the Presenter
Lori Slaughter is the Principal of Nirvana Ranch Philanthropy and a Philanthropy Advisor with Excellence In Giving, LLC. She has over 20 years of nonprofit experience, an insatiable appetite for knowledge, and a passion for creating strong Social Sector ecosystems that improve quality of life for all. Much of Lori's work has focused on high-impact philanthropy in education, medical sciences, health and human services and hospital systems. She sees the Social Sector as an inter-connected ecosystem that has tremendous potential to eliminate suffering and solve our most pressing social issues. Lori is passionate about integrating the use of objective data in decision-making to improve the sector as a whole and to facilitate partnerships between effective philanthropists, high-impact organizations and visionary leaders. Lori has been a guest lecturer at UCLA, George Fox University, Portland State University, Morgan Stanley, Northwest Planned Giving Roundtable and various professional association conferences. Her areas of expertise include effective philanthropy, nonprofit evaluation, governance, endowments, fundraising, major gifts and development systems & operations. Lori is a native of North Carolina and earned her B.S. in Sociology from Portland State University. She lives in Central Oregon and enjoys working on her farm, horseback riding and caring for her growing animal family. Her charitable interests include women's health research, equine therapy and medical science. Lori serves on the board of Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center in Bend, Oregon.
