Oregon Nonprofit Sector Report 9:45 to 10:30
As the nonprofit sector confronts complex challenges, effective collaboration is increasingly needed to generate creative solutions and achieve greater and sustained impact.
“Collective impact,” a model introduced in 2011 by John Kania and Mark Kramer of the nonprofit consulting firm FSG, provides a framework to guide cross-sector collaborations for high-impact social change. Since its introduction, interest has taken off, both in the nonprofit and philanthropic communities. FSG continues to clarify the approach and more deeply explore its implementation.
Collective impact is a holistic approach that can serve to strengthen your collaborative efforts and deepen the impacts you achieve.
In this session we will explore:
- The five conditions of collective impact
- Opportunities and challenges presented by the framework
- Strategies for implementing the conditions for success, drawing on local collaborative efforts and examples of collective impact initiatives
- Local capacities to support and sustain collaborative initiatives
Oregon Nonprofit Sector Report
The Nonprofit Association of Oregon (NAO) and Portland State University’s (PSU) Institute for Nonprofit Management (INPM) have collaborated to publish the Oregon Nonprofit Sector Report(ONSR) that informs key decision makers in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors about the economic relevance of the nonprofit sector. This comprehensive report examines the sector as a whole—including a description of the size and scope of the sector, the current condition of nonprofits and clues about their economic and social relevance, and social impact of the nonprofit sector in Oregon.
The ONSR provides crucial information for public policy decision makers, philanthropists, and nonprofit leaders in their attempt to reorganize relations between nonprofits and government while dealing with the consequences of recent financial crises—the effects of which greatly influence Oregon’s state budget cycle and consequently the budget of many of the state’s 22,000+ nonprofit organizations.
Join us for a presentation and discussion about the ONSR findings following this NNCO session.
