About this event
This event is provided by Mahonia Consulting
There are over 17,000 nonprofits registered in the State of Oregon. Many of these are are thriving organizations that benefit the community, but many are tiny efforts on the behalf of a few people who are unsure of how to do some good in the world. This meetup event explores the steps needed to found an effective nonprofit. Let’s get together and see if starting a nonprofit is the right choice for you and if so, how to do it most effectively.
This meetup is open to all and designed for inspired people who want to have start an impactful group, people who have recently started a nonprofit, and
board members, founders, and directors of new nonprofits
Come with questions about starting nonprofits, or with experiences to share.
There is no cost to attend. Drinks and food are available from Zoiglhaus. The
venue is open to all ages and is kid friendly. We will gather around a table.
I am Richard Seymour of Mahonia Consulting. I have worked with nonprofit
organizations since the 1970s and helped found Free Geek, a nonprofit here in
Portland where I worked for 15 years, most recently as Director of Operations. I have also helped establish nonprofits in Minnesota, and have worked with many such organizations over the years. I worked with the Minnesota Council of nonprofits, and am a member of the Nonprofit Association of Oregon and the Oregon chapter of the Organization Development Network. I am here to facilitate a discussion between people and to point people toward resources.
