1865 Bill Frey Drive NE
Salem

About this event

Alice Forbes, Operations Director
Nonprofit Association of Oregon

This is a special extended session that will include a presentation on the Oregon Nonprofit Sector Report findings.

Registration & Continental Breakfast at 7:30
“Dashboard Reporting: Tools for Effective Oversight” presentation at 8:00
15-minute Break at 9:30
Discussion of report findings at 9:45

Dashboard reports are an effective way to describe a nonprofit organization’s programs and finances to a range of stakeholders. These concise metrics help Board and staff set benchmarks, monitor progress, and make informed decisions, and they allow stakeholders to understand the organization at a glance, focusing on elements that most impact mission and success.

Interpreting detailed financial statements and program reports and creating succinct and understandable dashboards is an effort rewarded by staff, Board, and other stakeholders who are more knowledgeable of your organization.

This session explores:

  • Determining your audience
  • Identifying key metrics and data sources
  • Engaging constituencies both inside and outside your organization
  • Establishing a process

Oregon Nonprofit Sector Report

The Nonprofit Association of Oregon (NAO) and Portland State University’s (PSU) Institute for Nonprofit Management (INPM) have collaborated to publish the Oregon Nonprofit Sector Report (ONSR) that informs key decision makers in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors about the economic relevance of the nonprofit sector. This comprehensive report examines the sector as a whole—including a description of the size and scope of the sector, the current condition of nonprofits and clues about their economic and social relevance, and social impact of the nonprofit sector in Oregon.

The ONSR provides crucial information for public policy decision makers, philanthropists, and nonprofit leaders in their attempt to reorganize relations between nonprofits and government while dealing with the consequences of recent financial crises—the effects of which greatly influence Oregon’s state budget cycle and consequently the budget of many of the state’s 22,000+ nonprofit organizations.

Join us for a presentation and discussion about the ONSR findings.
