About this event

This event is provided by Live Wire Radio

Live Wire featuring Paul Gilmartin, Neal Bascomb & Open Mike Eagle May 18, 2016 at Mississippi Studios.

Live Wire is radio variety for cultural omnivores. It’s music from up-and-coming bands, original comedy, performance and scintillating interviews with writers, filmmakers, comedians and people who think cool thoughts. Hosted by Luke Burbank (Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me, Too Beautiful to Live), the show is taped in front of a live audience and is aired on public radio stations around the country.

Guests include:

Paul Gilmartin – host of The Mental Illness Happy Hour, a weekly conversation that focuses on the battles we have in our heads. According to Gilmartin, the podcast is “not a substitute for professional mental help but more like a waiting room that hopefully doesn’t suck.” He co-hosted TBS’ Dinner and a Movie From 1995 to 2011 and has been a stand-up comedian since 1987.

Neal Bascomb – New York Times bestselling author of nonfiction narratives about anything from athletes training to break the four-minute mile, to capturing Nazi leader, Adolf Eichmann. His book, Higher, which follows the race to build the world’s tallest skyscraper, was also featured in a History Channel documentary.

Open Mike Eagle – Los Angeles-based, Chicago bred, hip hop artist, who coined
the term “Art Rap” to describe some of his music. He’s released four albums and five EP’s as a solo artist and collaborated with groups like Swim Team and Thirsty Fish, on another five.
