Mobilize Your Board to Raise More Money
Morning Workshop, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Half Day/Single Workshop (does not include lunch): $50 NAO Members, $85 Nonmembers
If your Board isn’t raising all the money it could—indeed, if your Board isn’t raising any money at all—you’re not alone. In this workshop, we’ll discuss the reasons why, and outline strategies to turn things around. You’ll leave with several practical, specific ideas for increasing Board involvement and effectiveness, including:
- Redefining fundraising: It’s not just asking for money
- The psychology of fundraising: Why donors give
- Developing a Board fundraising menu
- Motivating and supporting your Board
Nuts & Bolts of Fundraising: Big Money for Rural Groups
Afternoon Workshop, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Half Day/Single Workshop (does not include lunch): $50 NAO Members, $85 Nonmembers
80% of charitable funds come from individual donors, not foundations or corporations. Learn to build a fundraising program that honors your mission, engages potential donors, and raises more money. In this workshop we will discuss:
- Where money comes from: Building a diverse funding base
- The basic principles of fundraising
- Identifying prospective donors
- “The ask” — face to face solicitation
- Alternate strategies: House parties, raising major gifts by mail
This workshop is specific to the unique needs of rural organizations, however the content is applicable to small and/or non-rural organizations as well.
