Building Board Leadership

Ecotrust Conference Center 721 NW 9th Avenue
Portland

About this event

Marc Smiley, Principal
Decisions Decisions

Continental Breakfast & Networking at 7:30
Presentation at 8:00

A board that is fully engaged in leading your nonprofit will be more committed to the organization’s ultimate success. But if your board members are already stretched for time or are unsure about their roles, how can you encourage them to not only participate in, but lead and carry out their most important governing functions? And how can you help them be successful within your role as the executive director—an important but sometimes awkward line to draw?

Learn how to:

  • Support the recruiting and orienting of board members with leadership in mind
  • Strategically analyze board strengths and organization needs
  • Manage ED and board expectations around leadership
  • Help the board set and assess board leadership goals

Join us for “Building Board Leadership” with Marc Smiley. Marc will share his knowledge and experience of working successfully with boards, both as an Executive Director and as a Board Member and Chair. He will identify strategies for developing your board’s leadership and commitment to your organization and offer theoretical and practical ideas to guide your board’s growth.
