About this event

This event is provided by Live Wire Radio.

Live Wire featuring Bruce Campbell, Meghan Daum, Chastity Belt, David Wax Museum and More!

Live Wire is radio variety for cultural omnivores. It’s music from
up-and-coming bands, original comedy, performance and scintillating
interviews with writers, filmmakers, comedians and people who think cool thoughts. Hosted by Luke Burbank (Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me, Too Beautiful to Live), the show is taped in front of a live audience and is aired on public radio stations around the country.

GUESTS:

Bruce Campbell
An actor, author and director, Campbell chainsawed his way into cult stardom in the 80’s as zombie-killer Ash in the Evil Dead series. Since then, he’s worked steadily in film and TV, with roles in series like The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. and Burn Notice and films like The Hudsucker Proxy and Spider-Man. His newest series, Ash vs. Evil Dead, has horror film nerds in a giddy tizzy.

Meghan Daum
A columnist for The LA Times for a decade, Meghan Daum has become patently familiar with the personal essay. In 2014, she published The Unspeakable, a collection of highly personal essays that prompted Nylon to call her “Her generation’s Joan Didion.” Most recently, she edited the collection Selfish, Shallow and Self-Absorbed: Sixteen Writers on the Decision Not to Have Kids.

Musical Guests:

Chastity Belt
Not many bands begin by flipping over a ping-pong table at a frat party and playing a punk song, but according to legend, that was the birth of Chastity Belt, a blast of a four-woman Seattle band with a riot grrl tinge. Their most recent record is Time to Go Home.

David Wax Museum
Led by multi-instrumentalist and husband-and-wife team David Wax and Suze Slezak, David Wax Museum mixes American roots music with Mexican folk to create their own genre: “Mexo-Americana.” Their latest record is Guesthouse.
