In this session we will examine and discuss the audit process and explore financial statement analysis. The audit process discussion will include: What is an audit and when/why is it required? Audit, review or compilation, what are the differences and what does my organization need? How to prepare for the audit. Audit process and testing. Client vs auditor responsibilities. Common audit landmines and how to avoid them. The Financial statement analysis discussion will include: What are financial statement users looking at? How do I use the Charity Navigator scoring? What should I know about key performance metrics? How to use Dashboard reporting, and business health checkup & liquidity/collections.

About the Presenters

Erica Moore

Erica Moore is a senior accountant at Jones & Roth’s Portland office, with experience in accounting and auditing nonprofit organizations. She started with Jones & Roth in 2010. Erica graduated from Portland State University with a degree in Accounting & Finance. She is affiliated with the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Fritz Duncan

Fritz Duncan is a partner and shareholder at Jones & Roth and specializes in tax, auditing, and financial review for non‐profit organizations and limited partnerships. Fritz also specializes in affordable housing, including the Low Income Housing Tax Credit. Fritz has served on the board of directors for Junior Achievement and the Eugene Active 20/30 Club. In his free time, Fritz also coaches soccer and volleyball for KidSports. Fritz has a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Oregon, and is affiliated with the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts, the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants
