Presenter

Ryan Orr, Human Resources & Compliance Consultant, Cascade Employers Association

2016 will see two major changes in the law that will affect nearly every organization in Oregon. The first are proposed changes to the FLSA exemption rules, which will have a major effect on who receives overtime and rest/meal breaks in your organization, who you decide to salary and pay hourly, and who needs to track their hours worked. The second is the passage of a new statewide sick leave law that will affect how you administer your sick and/or paid time off policies. In this session we will cover:

  • The proposed FLSA rules changes, with an emphasis on their effect on non-profit organizations
  • What the final FLSA rules might look like and when we might expect to see them
  • How the FLSA rule changes will affect your organizations job descriptions, pay practices, and hour tracking
  • The Oregon Sick Leave Law
  • What the OSL’s rules might look like and when we might expect to see them
  • How the OSL law will affect your sick and PTO leave policies
