In this session we will review gender-related terminology and concepts, and examine the challenges and consequences of accumulated barriers that transgender people experience in areas such as criminal justice, healthcare, education, public accommodations and services, government, media, and the workplace. We will also explore tangible steps that individuals and organizations can take to become better allies and increase options and opportunities while minimizing challenges and consequences.
Participants will leave the workshop with a deeper empathy for transgender people’s experience, better understanding of the accumulated challenges faced by transgender people, and specific actions they can take to improve their surroundings.
