About this event

Nonprofits generate earned income whenever they provide something of value to customers who are willing and able to pay for it. From season tickets to a concert series, from summer camp to child care, from publications to re-manufacturing mattresses, nonprofits generate earned income through a wide variety of strategies. For many, earned income generation requires meeting the needs of two distinct parties with divergent interests and priorities—the individual who actually receives the goods or services and the supporting party who will pay the bill if the nonprofit meets a dizzying array of requirements.

Earned income is not a bed of roses and social enterprise is not the answer to every nonprofit’s financial challenges. But recognizing that 70% of all income received by US nonprofits comes from fees for services and sales of products, taking a good look at earned income options is essential for most. This new full-day workshop will provide step-by-step guidance to improve net results from your current earned income activities and practical tools to evaluate opportunities for innovation and enhancement.

Learn how your nonprofit can increase its sustainability by rethinking mission-focused earned income strategies—identifying new customers, developing new services or products, or redeveloping the marketing and delivery of your existing services and products to increase their net contribution to your financial health.

Key topics will include:

  • Improving financial outcomes from contracts, fees for services, and product sales
  • Financial modeling techniques to test new earned income strategies
  • Getting the cash you need to launch or expand earned income strategies
  • Rethinking and rebuilding your customer base
  • Mastering key social enterprise concepts
  • About the Presenter

Produced in partnership with the Washington County Nonprofit Network.

Scholarships are available for nonprofit organizations that primarily provide service to Washington County. We thank the Washington County Nonprofit Network for providing these scholarships! Click here to apply for a scholarship.
