This hands-on session will expose artists to the strategy, planning and goal setting steps of preparing to write a success grant proposal. The first part of the workshop will introduce you to the basics of preparation. Artists will learn how to create a budget, map out the project goals, set the artistic work in the context of finding well-matched granting organizations. The workshop will include round-table discussions with the goal of crafting and refining grant proposal narratives. By the end of the day, each artist will complete a rough draft of a plan to request funding for either a specific project they have in mind, or one they think up for the exercise. This planning process will be adaptable for future grant proposals or for generating a letter of intent to a potential funding organization.
