This workshop will provide an overview of a framework for working with Involuntary Clients. Much of social work practice asserts that individuals want to receive services. We will explore effective engagement strategies for working with people who have little or no choice in receiving services. Key concepts for effective engagement will be discussed. A practice tool will be provided to workshop participants to assist in maintaining the
framework of engagement/practice. The workshop will include opportunity to discuss the challenging aspects of working as involuntary practitioners.
