About the Presenters

C. Davis Parchment has been working with the Foundation Center in various capacities since 2006. Originally hired as part of the nonprofit services team, she was responsible for designing and delivering training programs in support of the capacity building needs of nonprofits in the San Francisco Bay Area. Recently, she moved to Portland and has shifted roles to focus on the Glasspockets.org initiative and several special research projects. Prior to joining the Center, she spent over 11 years in various nonprofit organizations working in fundraising, nonprofit management, education, and international development. She designed a program in India for women recovering from sex-trafficking, and service-oriented leadership training programs for youth in Egypt, Puerto Rico, and California. Davis holds a BA in Economics and Philosophy from Mount Holyoke College and a MEd from Harvard University.

John McLaughlin has been a grant evaluator for the Oregon Community Foundation for 15 years, nine years in Portland and six years in Central Oregon as OCF’s lead volunteer. He spent 30 years in business as the Chief Financial Officer of The North Face and in the investment consulting field, and he founded and managed a nonprofit for five years. He has a BA from Dartmouth and an MBA from Stanford. He is “retired,” but volunteers with the Deschutes Children & Families Commission as well as OCF.

Carma Mornarich started out as a member of the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation Board in 2001, and transitioned into the director position in 2007. Carma understands and has great pride for the work of the Foundations and philanthropy in Oregon communities. She is also a Board member of the Lilja Family Fund through the Oregon Community Foundation as well as a member of the Southern Willamette Valley Leadership Council for OCF.

Kim Thomas joined Meyer Memorial Trust in February of 2006 as a program officer after 16 years at Oregon Food Bank in Portland. During those years, she was responsible for leading OFB’s advocacy and public policy work as well as supervising relationships with 18 regional food banks and over 800 local member programs across Oregon and southwest Washington. Prior to joining Oregon Food Bank, she worked in higher education and publishing. Kim has a BA in Sociology from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio), a MEd from the University of Vermont, and a MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Alabama.
