About this event
Join the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership on Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service to plant trees and help restore habitat along Multnomah and Wahkeena creeks in the Columbia River Gorge. The planting takes place Monday, January 19th from 9 a.m. to noon at Benson State Recreation Area, one mile west of Multnomah Falls. This is a great opportunity to get outdoors, enjoy the beauty of the Gorge, and make a difference.
Plantings are fun for families and individuals, and volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome. Volunteers should come prepared with water to drink and weather-appropriate clothes and footwear—we provide all tools, gloves, and plants, as well as hot drinks, snacks from KIND, and a nutritious lunch thanks to a generous donation from New Seasons Market. Plantings are led by professional educators, and students can use this opportunity to earn required community service hours for school.
