The nonprofit environment is rapidly changing and requires effective leadership to respond to changing economic, political, and technological conditions that impact the design and delivery of programs and services. Join our experienced panelists of nonprofit leaders for a lively discussion on effective leadership models for engaging your staff and Board in achieving your mission. Our facilitator and panelists will share their in-depth experiences with:

• Building and maintaining staff morale
• Recognizing and nurturing leadership in others
• Effective leadership styles for different stages in an organization’s development
• Fostering long-term vision while managing short-term crises
• Managing growth and contraction, or “right sizing” your organization

Both emerging and experienced nonprofit leaders can benefit from learning how to identify and work through specific leadership challenges.

About the Presenters

Carol Ford manages consulting services that build the capacity of nonprofit organizations to be more effective and impactful. Carol brings deep skills in organizational management and leadership based on more than 20 years’ experience with city and county governments, where her work included extensive team facilitation, strategic planning, financial management, and citizen involvement. As a community leader, Carol has co-led civic engagement projects designed to set common goals for the Metro region on important social, economic, and environmental indicators. She holds a BS in Biology and Communications from Lewis and Clark College and has completed Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, Senior Executives in State and Local Government program.

Upon graduating from Southern Oregon University, where he studied communication, business, and mathematics, Brad Earl embarked on a 13-year career in banking. In 1999, Brad joined Harry & David, where he lead a number of finance teams over an eight year period culminating in his last role there as the Vice President and Treasurer. He then became the President and CEO of a southern Oregon beer and wine distribution business, and also did some organizational development consulting. Brad is now the Chief Financial Officer at the Medford School District, and he serves on several Boards and advisory committees for nonprofit organizations. He was recently on the Oregon Commission for Voluntary Action and Service.

Roger Hassenpflug is CEO of Living Opportunities, a private nonprofit organization providing community-based jobs and supported living services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Roger received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University at Long Beach and has been in nonprofit executive leadership positions since 1977 in Minnesota and Oregon, including nearly 24 years in his current position.

Brenda Johnson is CEO of La Clinica, a private, non-profit organization providing medical, dental, behavioral health and other complementary services to the diverse communities in Southern Oregon, especially those who face barriers to healthcare. Brenda received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Southern Oregon University, a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Oregon Health Sciences University and a Masters in Business Administration from Purdue University.
